(AP) ? Madonna won't explicitly say who she's rooting for, but her spot-on salsa dance in honor of the New York Giants Victor Cruz may have revealed where her allegiance lies.

At a news conference Thursday to promote her halftime Super Bowl performance, she was asked what she thought of the wide receiver's touchdown celebration dance and if she had any criticisms of his moves.

"I have no criticism ... actually, he's inspired me. I've been practicing," said Madonna, who lives in New York, before busting a move in front of the few hundred media members in attendance.

"Do you think he'd approve?" she asked after her brief performance. Madonna also leaned toward the Giants when pressed on which quarterback she'd rather have dinner with, the New England Patriots' Tom Brady or the Giants' Eli Manning. While she protested the question was unfair, she allowed: "I'd have to say Eli because he lives in New York and I don't want him to waste gas. "

Madonna's salsa dance was her only performance of the day; she declined to follow the footsteps of other halftime acts who have given a tease of their performance with a mini concert.

Madonna gave few details about Sunday's show, which is being "imagined" Cirque du Soleil and may feature white-hot rapper Nicki Minaj, who is featured on Madonna's new single "Give Me All Your Luvin'." (She promoted her song by announcing it would be available on iTunes Friday, and for those who may not have known her film "W.E." opens this week, a press kit was placed on seats for reporters).

"''I really don't want to blow the surprises," said Madonna, who only promised to sing three old songs and one new one. "I want people to be knocked off their feet.'"

The 53-year-old music icon is perhaps the most edgy Super Bowl performer since 2004, the halftime show that will live in infamy, as Justin Timberlake revealed Janet Jackson's bare breast during a "wardrobe malfunction." Madonna, who is as defined by sometimes racy antics as her music, once again promised no flesh would be seen during her set, and when asked if she was going to be "pushing the envelope," she said: "The envelope I am pushing is for a spectacular show which will, I think, entertain all age groups and will be a feast for the eyes and ears."

Madonna fielded several questions from reporters, some softball, some staid, and a couple bizarre. One person asked if she could confirm that her former companion and rumored boyfriend Alex Rodriguez had a painting in his house featuring himself as a half-man centaur.

"If he does, I haven't seen it but I'm pretty sure he has a rather large painting of me," she said.

Someone else asked Madonna, who admitted that she rarely watches TV let alone games, about the ankle injury to New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, and whether she'd be able to perform with such an ailment.

"Well, a lot of people would say I'm a bit of a masochist," said Madonna, who said ibuprofen and tape would have her ready to go.

The superstar said she stared rehearsals for the halftime show in December. She also said preparing for her set, which will likely be around 10 minutes, was the most arduous time of her long career, and perhaps made her the most nervous. While Madonna, who has lived in Britain, sometimes affects a British accent, she stressed her Midwestern roots and expressed her love for Indianapolis as well.

"This is a Midwestern girl's dream to perform at the Super Bowl," she said. She added that she'd dedicate her performance to her father.

"I was raised in the Midwest and he is the personification of Midwestern values," she said. "He gave me the work ethic I have so if I am a hard working girl that never stops it is because of him. I am sure of all of the things I have ever done in my life this will be the thing he is most excited about. "

Matthias Schoenarts ("Bullhead") will co-star. The film was co-written by Audiard and Thomas Bidegain and adapted from short story collection by Craig Davidson.

"Rust and Bone" recently wrapped production. Sony Pictures Classics purchased the rights from Hengameh Panahi of Celluloid Dreams for an undisclosed figure.

UK diplomat: Argentina may block Falklands flights

Argentina is slamming Prince William's deployment to the Falklands. Some Argentine veterans say the move is aggressive and arrogant, but most residents on the islands are preparing to welcome the Prince. ITN's Bill Neely reports.

By msnbc.com staff

British officials accuse Argentina of attempting to blockade the Falkland Islands by stopping the only air link to the?chain of isles from South America, according to a UK media report.

Argentina's president, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, in the past has threatened to stop the weekly flight from Punta Arenas, Chile,?to Port Stanley, the only city in the?Falkland Islands. The flight is run by Chilean airline LAN and is a vital economic?link to Britons living on the Falklands.

An unnamed senior British diplomat told the Guardian in a story published on Wednesday that the move to stop the flight is likely to come soon. Even if the airline resisted Argentine pressure to ground?the flights, Argentina would prohibit use of its airspace, officials said.

Argentina to UK: Prince arriving dressed as 'conquistador'

"If the LAN Chile flight is cancelled, it would be pretty difficult to resist the already credible thesis that there is an economic blockade of the civilian population of the Falklands," the?diplomat told the Guardian.

Buenos Aires and London have been locked in a war of words on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the war between Argentina and Britain. In that conflict, Argentina's?invasion of the island ended with more than 600 Argentine soldiers killed and 200 British dead.

Britain sending advanced warship to Falklands

Earlier this week, it was announced one of the most sophisticated destroyers in the Royal Navy, the HMS Dauntless,?would be deployed to the Falklands. And a?training?mission on the disputed South Atlantic islands?by?Prince William was criticized by Argentina's foreign ministry this week as the second-in-line to the throne?"arriving on sovereign soil dressed in the uniform of a conquistador."

In a speech to the UN last September, Fernandez threatened to block the Chile?flights if Britain refused to negotiate sovereignty of the islands. Argentina?calls the archipegalo?the Las Malvinas.

British Prime Minister David Cameron has refused to hold talks.?

Could ?smart paint? warn of future disasters before they happen? (Yahoo! News)

A new environmentally-friendly paint identifies dangerous defects before they cost lives

Could a simple coat of paint save lives??Researchers at the?University of Strathcylde in Glasgow, Scotland believe so: They've developed a smart paint capable of finding structural defects and the?potential for disaster long before any issues arise.

The?environmentally-friendly paint consists of aligned nanofiber tubes and a recycled byproduct of burning coal. It's not especially?pretty, but that's not the point.?When applied, the paint looks and acts more like a layer of cement than a layer of paint, allowing it to withstand weather.

Should something happen to threaten the stability of the structure the paint is applied to ? say a microcrack forms in a support beam ? the nanofiber tubes in the paint will bend. Because the conductivity of nanofiber tubes change when they bend, the defect can be found remotely using wireless nodes designed to detect changes in current.

Structure collapses do not happen with great frequency, but the consequences of a collapse can be devastating. One person was killed when a?Big Dig ceiling panel fell on a car in Boston in 2006. And in the following year, 13?people were killed and 145 were injured in 2007 when a?bridge spanning the Mississippi River collapsed in Minnesota.

Australia reviews timetable for buying 12 F-35s (AP)

CANBERRA, Australia ? Australia is reviewing its timetable for buying 12 of the troubled F-35 Joint Strike Fighters between 2015 and 2017 after the Unites States announced a rethink of its own purchase schedule for the futuristic warplanes.

Australia is a funding partner in developing the JSF, which the U.S. Defense Department describes as the largest fighter aircraft program in history.

Australian Defense Minister Stephen Smith said Monday that Australia is only contractually obligated to take delivery of two of the warplanes. They will be based in the United States and be available from 2014 for training Australian pilots.

Smith says Australia is reconsidering its schedule of buying another 12 during the following three years.
